Introducing Plascon Professional Evolution

These need to comply with legislation and environmental tools; using sustainable processes and materials to manufacture and develop products that are environmentally aware, and using the strictest guidelines from around the world.
Plascon is proud to announce the launch of their first full range of zero VOC (< 5g/L) and solvent free (< 5g/L) interior paint products to the trade market; called Plascon Professional Evolution. As an environmentally friendly paint, Plascon has made the range free of Ammonia, Formaldehyde, APEO’s (Alkylphenol Ethoxylates) and CIT’s
(Chloroisothiazolinones). Despite these changes, Plascon Evolution delivers the same product performance expected of all Plascon Premium products with a full five-year guarantee.
Innovative raw materials and advanced technology makes this range completely solvent free, going well beyond the guidelines set by the Green Building Council of South Africa (http://www.gbcsa.org.za). Plascon Professional Evolution will be available to the trade in South Africa from July 2009 and consists of a plaster primer, premium ceiling paint, premium satin, premium matt as well as premium water-based gloss. Professional Evolution Matt and Professional Evolution Satin are tinted on a made-to-order basis using unique glycol and solvent free colourant technology.
A VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) is commonly defined as a compound that has a boiling point below 250 degrees Celsius and is of an organic nature. Volatile means that the compound evaporates easily. The term organic means that the compound is always made of molecules that contain carbon based bonds. Hence, water is not a VOC and not all solvents
are VOCs.
VOCs may contribute to sick building syndrome and other effects such as allergic sensitisation or asthmatic symptoms. The Plascon Professional Evolution interior range, which has zero VOCs and solvents, will significantly improve indoor air quality and contribute to a healthier environment.
